![]() There were these little balls of fern leaves, and they looked like they had been stitched up! I will find out what this means! I’ve never seen a squirrel rest and for a while I was worried it was injured! But it got up and left when the monkeys arrived, so I think it is okay.Īlso spotted this strange phenomenon on a fern. It started drizzling a little and this squirrel decided to rest for a bit. Only got one shot of it before it darted off, but it is likely to be a female flycatcher or sunbird. It was too crowded where the golden oriole had been spotted, so I went to the old mulberry tree which was for once deserted. It was spotted a couple of days ago and has caused quite an uproar within the circle. Headed to Dairy Farm to try to shoot the super rare, never been seen before golden oriole. It made an attempt to go after it but didn’t manage to get it.įound a pair of olive-backed sunbirds feeding too. The loss of wild grassland has seen this bird become endangered, but a new nesting family has been found in the grassy area near the lone tree. In fact, its nickname is also the Dead Child Bird for it sounds that sad! It is quite a rare resident and like all cuckoos, it lays its eggs in other birds’ nests.Īnother star bird at Jurong. It is the plaintive cuckoo, and it has a very sad sounding call. This is the current star bird at Jurong Lake Gardens. May you grow up to be as loud and noisy as your parents, little one. But I’d spotted him from quite far away and it is my first time taking a picture of it, so yay!Īnother fluffy object (see the trend yet?). ![]() His cousin, the coppersmith barbet, boasts of bright colours and striking tones, but he umm is a little lacking in those aspects. This scruffy and slightly unfortunate looking guy is the lineated barbet. ![]() ![]() The spotted dove, also all fluffed up after the rain. Not as majestic but fluffy like anything are these pink necked green pigeons. Jurong (or more specifically, Jurong Lake Gardens) actually has a lot of birds!!įirst thing I took was this brahminy kite, perched! Of the hundreds of photos I took of it before it flew, I decided to show the one where he looks derpy.īut make no mistake, the brahminy kite is an apex predator and truly quite majestic. I used to say that of Jurong when I had to go to school in NTU. There is a Chinese saying, ” 鸟不生蛋” to describe places so far flung that even birds don’t go there to lay eggs. ![]()
